Page 1

The Parish Assembly is your opportunity to come and see what pastoral activities are happening in the parish. Held every 3 years the next Assembly is on 10 June 2017.

In 2014 five priority areas were identified for the parish
  • Mission,
  • Justice & Peace,
  • building Community,
  • Youth
  • Liturgy.
In advance of the 2017 meeting, the Parish Pastoral Council would like feedback from all parishioners.

Please complete by 28th May

1) What are the best things to have happened in our Parish in the last 3 years?

2)  For each priority area please let us know how you think the parish is doing and what else we could do (Please make one choice for each Priority Area)

Mission:

The Mission group organises and encourages activities to build the faith of our parishioners, builds links with other Christians and to evangelise. Some examples of the group’s activities are the Parish Mission, the Advent and Lent talks, the Churches Together Good Friday Cross Procession, the Art exhibition, Finding Silence events, and Sharing the Light.

Justice & Peace:

The Justice & Peace group responds to current social injustice by raising awareness and encouraging people to address need where they can. Annually the group manages a goods collection for local charities and occasionally organises fundraising events for others, such as the Bread & Soup Supper for CAFOD. The group contributes to the Prayers of Intercessions and every November holds a study-day on the link between the Gospel, prayer and action for justice.

Youth:

The Youth group organises activities for the young people in the parish.Examples of the group’s activities include the Children’s liturgy at 9.30 mass, sacramental preparations, a number of youth groups and activities with our local schools.

Liturgy:

The Liturgy group, in conjunction with the clergy, helps to organise our liturgies, particularly during Advent, Christmas, Lent and at Easter. The group is also responsible for training and organising the Ministers of the Word and the Eucharistic Ministers.

Sense of Community (Parish Friends):

The Parish Friends group organises visitors for the sick, the housebound and those in Care Homes, lifts to weekend masses and welcoming for new parishioners. The group arranges many social events for parishioners to gather and co-ordinates Neighbourhood Links, and helps with the You Can be Santa and You Too Can Give an Easter egg initiatives
