CONSULTATION WITH ABUSE SURVIVORS AS A RESULT OF INSTITUTIONAL CARE

This is a consultation by Izzy's Promise a charity organisation (SC033706) based in Dundee, Scotland (UK) that offers free and confidential support and information services to survivors of organised/ritual abuse, BME groups, vulnerable and disabled people, and people with mental health problems occasioned by ritual/organised abuse suffered in their childhood. This survey is aimed at abuse survivors. If this applies to you, please complete the following. Your name will not be recorded anywhere in the final report, and no one will be able to link it to you. All personal information will remain confidential. Your participation in this research project is voluntary. If you do not wish to answer a question, you may refrain from doing so.
 
National Confidential Forum as a Mode of Acknowledgement and Apology
The key functions of the NCF are to receive and listen in private, to the experiences of adults placed in institutional care as children and to offer acknowledgment of those experiences; to contribute to the prevention of abuse of children placed in institutional care in the future by making proposals to inform policy and practice based on the experiences recounted in hearings of the NCF; and to signpost participants to services which can offer support, advocacy, advice and information before during and after testimony is given.
 
Definition of key terms
  1. Abuse can take many forms, including sexual, emotional, physical, neglect, bullying, racism and homophobia.
  2. Institution is defined as a place, organisation or system of caring for persons who are destitute, neglected, abused, disabled, asylum seekers, refugees, delinquents, or mentally ill.
