1. Study Title: Teachers mental health, help-seeking and the facilitation of help-seeking for young people.

We are conducting a short-survey as part of a research project to try and understand mental health and well-being from the perspective of those that work in schools.  As teaching staff you are in the ideal position to give us valuable first-hand information from your own perspective.  The data collected from the study is to be used for a research project at the University of Birmingham and it is hoped that through contributing to this research we can more accurately understand how to support and improve aspects of mental health and wellbeing in the educational sector and disseminate findings widely on local websites and in appropriate journals.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete, most questions are multiple choice questions and there are no ‘right or wrong’ answers.

It is up to you if you decide if you would like to take part in the study.  We will ask you to sign (digitally) a consent form below that provides evidence that you happy to contribute towards the research.  You may withdraw without reason at any time up to the point of completing the survey.  You can indicate withdrawal by exiting the survey (i.e. closing your browser window) at any time during the questionnaire.  All incomplete surveys will be treated as withdrawal and the data securely removed.  Once you have read this information and are happy to proceed you will be taken to the consent form by clicking continue at the bottom of this page.

If you take part your information you will not be identifiable by the data you share and your data will not be shared with anyone (this includes the institution that you currently work in) other than a small experienced research team. Your data is anonymous at entry and will stored on a secure password protected & encrypted computer system and analysed by an experienced research team in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.   The study is sponsored by the University of Birmingham and ethical approval has been granted by the University of Birmingham Ethical Review board if you have any issues with the conduct of this study you can contact ethics-queries@contacts.bham.ac.uk or call  0121 414 3344 for the main switchboard.

Overall results of the study will be sent to your school representative who will be able to disseminate this information to you.
