Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum CIL June Mailing

1. Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum CIL Questionnaire

Funding improvements in Crouch End
Since 2014 the London Borough of Haringey has been able to charge builders of new flats and houses a fee, called the Community Infrastructure Levy (commonly abbreviated as CIL). This money is intended to help pay for all the extra services new developments need, such as new school places, healthcare, improving neighbourhood areas and such like. Haringey has produced a plan on how it hopes CIL will be spent across the borough. Because the plan is for the whole of Haringey, it doesn’t always mean that the money is spent in the areas where it is raised.
The Crouch End Neighbourhood Forum can recommend on how 15% of the CIL raised in the area can be spent locally to improve the lives of residents who are impacted by new developments. The Neighbourhood Forum is recognised as being able to consult local residents on how they would want to see their CIL money spent.

How much CIL is available for Crouch End?
The exact figure for how much money is available is under preparation, but we expect it to be around £75,000 per year for the next 3-4 years.

What can it be spent on?
Spending is supposed to be on
a)    The provision, improvement, replacement or maintenance of infrastructure; or
b)    Anything else that is concerned with addressing the demands that development places on an area
We want to ask Crouch End residents what they think are the things that could be done that would help achieve these aims.

Our consultation plan
The neighbourhood forum is developing a consultation plan to bring together the best ideas on how we might spend CIL money to improve the area. In the first stage, we are asking for as many ideas as possible- ‘blue-sky thinking’ – to get an idea of what people are interested in. We have prepared a questionnaire below. We will also be putting more information up on our website and will be looking forward to hearing from residents.
We are not asking questions about Hornsey Town Hall in this survey because there is a separate funding plan for the building and the Town Square.

1. Q1. Is there anything you can think of immediately that you would spend money on to improve the area? This might be something that you have thought about for some time, or a group you are involved with has ideas about. If you cannot think of anything move on to the next question.

2. We present some example areas on which CIL money might be spent. Please rate these in terms of your preferences as to which should be funded.
