We have now reached the second phase of the consultation to reshape Anglesey Library Service. In this phase, we present our Draft Library Service Strategy 2017 - 2022.

To complete this survey you will need to read the accompanying information booklet .

Please take time to read the booklet before commenting to inform your response.

We need to develop the service to make it more appealing to citizens. We also need to respond to the financial challenges facing the Council.

Thank you for helping to shape the future of Anglesey’s libraries.

Library Service proposals

The information booklet sets out proposals for Anglesey County Council’s library service. Existing libraries are categorised into the following three tiers. You can read more about this in the information booklet.

Tier 1 - Area Libraries : Llangefni and Holyhead

Full time, fully staffed library open approximately 40 hours per week, supported by a professional team on a County wide level as per the existing pattern

Tier 2 - Council led community supported libraries (open for approx. 20 hours a week) : Amlwch, Benllech, Menai Bridge

Approximately 20 hours of core staffed opening hours provided by the Council. Front-line (library level) staffing will be supported by a professional team on a County wide basis as per the existing pattern.

Tier 3 – Council led community supported libraries (open for approx. 10-15 hours a week) Cemaes, Beaumaris, Rhosneigr, Moelfre, Newborough

Approximately 10-12 hours of core staffed opening hours provided by the Council. Front-line (library level) staffing will be supported by a professional team on a County wide basis as per the existing pattern. However, with this third tier, if there is no support from the communities or other parties there is a possibility that the library will close. In this case, mitigating factors will be required, for example a Contact Point within the community or increased Mobile Library presence; this provision will take into account Equality Impact measures.

Mobile and Housebound service

Alongside the above will be a full review of routes and stops of the housebound and Mobile Library Services. Changes in terms of where we go and where we stop are likely in this area of service going forward and it is a possibility that alternative models, for example, partnering with the third sector to deliver elements of Housebound Service, may be implemented.
