Motherwell Football Club Community Trust is proposing to invest £1.9 million in a new community facility for Muirhouse.
 
 
 
 

To make this project the best it can be we need the ideas and opinions of local people living in the Muirhouse area. We particularly welcome your thoughts about the sort of activities and services we could add to those already set out in the proposal below.
 
What is Being Proposed?
 
The proposal is to create a high quality, community hub for those who live or work in the Muirhouse area that meets the needs of the community.
 
CORE SERVICES PROPOSED
We intend to provide the following facilities
  • Sports facilities including upgraded and an increased number of sports pitches;
  • An upgraded pavilion;
  • Upgraded floodlights
  • Learning Centre with social areas and meeting spaces
  • New Access Road
ADDITIONAL SERVICES/ACTIVITIES that might be provided (other ideas also welcomed)
  • Learning and skills development opportunities
  • Health and Wellbeing programmes
  • Employability  programmes and projects
  • Arts performances and participation activities
  • A wider range of sporting activities
  • Environment and biodiversity projects
 
Why is this New Facility Being Proposed?
 
The idea of the new facility is to improve health, increase access to lifelong learning, create prosperity and offer enjoyment. This new facility is being proposed to help the local community alleviate some of the issues that are found in Muirhouse just now including crime, ill health, alcohol and substance abuse, lower than average levels of educational achievement, and lack of amenity.
 
The new proposal offers an opportunity for local people to come together, identify community issues, and improve them together. The new facility will also be available to everyone in the community to use, and offers the opportunity to deliver a wide range of activities in the one location – perhaps whilst the children are playing sport the grown ups can be having a coffee with friends in the social areas.
 
Who Will benefit?
 
The new facility is aimed at local people living in the Muirhouse area and other partners who may wish to use if to deliver activities.
