The Museums Association and the Museums Development Network have launched a UK wide Museums Survey.

The survey aims to build up a comprehensive, up-to-date picture of the museum sector and the information gathered will be used to help demonstrate and advocate for the social and economic importance of museums both regionally and nationally to funders and stakeholders.

The data you provide will be shared between the MA and the MDN in order to improve data quality and reduce survey duplication. This data will be used to inform national and regional policy and advocacy work by the MA and the Museum Development teams, and will not be shared outside of these organisations. All data and views will be treated anonymously where presented in public.

How to complete the survey
  • All figures should be for the financial period 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016.
  • We know that sometimes providing an exact figure can be hard so if you do not have actual data, please provide your best estimate.
  • If the response to a particular question is 0 then please specify this rather than leaving it blank.
  • You can save and return to the survey at any time by clicking 'Save and Continue Later' at the bottom of any page.
Questions about the survey

  • If you have any questions about completing the survey you can contact tom.newman@bristol.gov.uk or Alistair@museumsassociation.org. Thank you for taking the time to complete this form and we look forward to sharing the results with you.
