Town Centre PSPO Review

The Swindon Town Centre Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) will expire on November 7 2018. We would like to know your thoughts on what should happen to the PSPO - should it stay the same? should we remove any conditions? should we add new ones? should the area that it covers change?

The current PSPO can be found at:
https://www.swindon-csp.org.uk/asb/Pages/pspo.aspx

In the first 6 months of 2018, officers spoke to nearly 2,000 people to advise them that their behaviour may breach the PSPO. The positive response from those spoken to meant that no fines were issued.

The aim of the PSPO is not to issue fines or punish people - we use Advice and Information notices where possible and only issue fines if an individual does not stop their nuisance behaviour. The aim of the PSPO is to help make the town centre Safe and Clean; help people to change behaviours that have a negative impact on the community; increase the appeal of the town centre to visitors; increase public reassurance that anti-social behaviour is being addressed; and increase Civic Pride in the town centre.
