Transgender Consultation

Why we are consulting

This consultation is seeking views on the British Cycling Transgender and Non-Binary Participation Policy that was approved by the Board in October 2020.
However, it was agreed that British Cycling Transgender and Non-Binary Participation Policy should be kept under constant review as this area of sport and medical ethics develops, and changes are made to both guidance and legislation.
The Policy is subject to an annual review and consultation is necessary to assess its impact on our stakeholders and consider how it can be improved.

Who are we consulting

We are consulting widely in a large-scale representative survey. Members, non-members, staff, volunteers, external partners and identified groups, including but not limited to, Stonewall, Gendered Intelligence, Mermaids, Fair Play For Women, Women in Sport and the Women’s Sport Trust.

Responding to this consultation

We are inviting responses to this consultation by Friday 30th April 2021.
We welcome responses to some or all of the questions but ask that, no matter how strong an opinion is, acceptable language is used to express any views.

The British Cycling Transgender & Non-Binary Participation Policy can be found here.

Following the closing date, all responses will be analysed and considered along with any other available evidence to help us.

Responses to the consultation will remain anonymous. Individuals will be given the option to provide data relating to their age, gender and role in cycling so that British Cycling can better understand the demographics of those who responded to the consultation.
