Public Space Protection Orders
1. Have your say on Public Space Protection Orders
South Somerset District Council are seeking your views on proposals to control the anti-social behaviour in public spaces of Yeovil town centre.
Under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, a Local Authority must make a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) if satisfied that two conditions are met; namely;
- Activities carried on (or likely will be carried on) within the Authority’s area have (or will have) a detrimental effect on the quality of life in the locality.
- The effect, or likely effect, of the activities
- is persistent or continuing in nature; and
- is unreasonable
- justifies the restrictions imposed by the notice.
As part of the designation process we are required to undertake consultation with appropriate interested parties and stakeholders. I invite you to give your opinion and make any comments you have regarding this proposal.
Once the consultation is complete a report will be presented to our District Executive Committee who will decide whether to designate the PSPO or not.
