The Licensing and Regulatory Committee at its meeting on 27 August 2025 considered a report by the Director of Legal and Administration in relation to amending its Short Term Lets Policy solely to permit a temporary exemption from the licensing regime of Short Term Lets in respect of Glasgow’s hosting of the XXII Commonwealth Games in 2026. Glasgow’s second time hosting of these Games. After consideration of the report, the Committee agreed at this meeting, to instruct the Director of Legal and Administration to undertake a public consultation on an amended Short Term Lets Policy and report back on the findings of the consultation to the Committee. The current Short Term Lets Policy details the Committee’s position on Temporary Exemptions within section 10. An amended draft Temporary Exemption Policy can be viewed here . It is the amended Policy that the Committee is seeking views on. 

 

The Committee will consider all views received to this consultation before making a decision on whether to amend its Short Term Lets Policy in relation to Temporary Exemptions.
