Accessing online CPD

1. Survey to gather information about accessibility of IOP online CPD

0%
IOP offers professional support (CPD, CLPL etc) to all teachers of physics at no cost to the teacher/school/college. Over recent years this has been face to face including the following settings:
  • Twilight sessions (usually between 4pm and 6pm)
  • Full Day events (weekdays or Saturdays, usually about 4 workshops each about an hour long)
  • IOP Coaches visiting registered Partner Schools during the school day
With all current provision online due to COVID-19 restrictions being in place, we want to make our CPD as widely and readily available as we can. No matter whether you have attended any of our CPD or not, please complete our anonymous survey to help us to help you! Completing the survey should only take 5-10 minutes.

The first step to reducing/removing barriers is to understand what they are. We recognise that some people may regard this information as private and have therefore included the option of ‘prefer not to say’ in all categories. If you would prefer not to answer any individual question then please leave it blank. The responses that you give will assist us greatly in our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We will use the anonymised and collated data to identify any possible barriers and develop more inclusive practices. The information collected will be treated as confidential and will be used only for monitoring purposes.
As an example of how diversity data has been used to inform our work, our 2015 Member diversity survey included a question on sexual orientation for the first time. We saw a large percentage of responses from LGBT+ members and as a result created an LGBT+ network for physical scientists. The network went on to survey the LGBT+ community working in science, leading to the publication of the ‘Exploring the Workplace for LGBT+ Physical Scientists’ report in 2019. You can find the report and the recommendations for individuals, employers and learned societies here.

To maintain your anonymity, please do not include in your answers and information that might allow you to be identified (such as your name, contact details or or even the name of your school). If you do wish to be contacted to offer further information that might help us improve accessibility of our CPD, please email us separately using the link at the end of the survey.

Please complete this survey by 16 October 2020. Please share the link with any colleagues involved in teaching/supporting physics, no matter whether or not they have attended IOP CPD.
Thank you!
