1. Introduction

This survey is designed with learners in Year 10 and 11 in mind.  This survey is not appropriate for any other year groups. Careers Wales can work with young people in a number of ways including careers interviews (either face-to-face or through video calls), group sessions (either in person or through webinars), e-mailing, texting, webchat or through our website.

To help us make sure that we work with you in the most appropriate way, we have created this questionnaire which is called Career Check.  Career Check is a snapshot of the way you are thinking at the moment and we know that this can change at any time.

Some of the questions you will answer will give us an idea of which of our services will be most helpful to you to help you make decisions about your career.   This means that the answers in some sections of the questionnaire will be scored.  This is called profiling.

We will tell you which answers are scored later on in the questionnaire.  This doesn’t mean that some answers are better than others: there are no right or wrong answers, but your answers will give us an idea about how you’re feeling about some things to do with your future career.  We will then use these answers, together with other information such as which subjects you’re studying, to help us to provide the most appropriate service to meet your needs.

You can discuss your responses to this questionnaire with your Careers Adviser in school.

For this questionnaire to have meaning, some questions require you to answer them.  However, some questions are optional, so if you do not want to answer these, just skip over them.

Important: Please Read Before Starting the Questionnaire
