Introduction

This Scoping Consultation is the first stage of preparation of the Council’s new Local Plan. Its purpose is to provide early engagement in the plan-making process by seeking views from local residents and stakeholders as to what the plan should contain and how future engagement should be carried out.

We would like your views on the key issues facing our borough. This includes your views on our current Local Plan and whether the Plan’s current vision and priorities are still right. This will help us confirm the content of the new Local Plan.

We’re also asking for your thoughts on the challenges of planning for more homes, the infrastructure needed to support growth, how we can protect and enhance our built and natural environments, support jobs and the economy, tackle climate change, and create well-designed, healthy communities. We would also like your views on how we communicate with you in future.

The consultation runs from Thursday 16th April until 5pm on Monday 1st June 2026.  After this consultation ends, all feedback will be reviewed.

About the survey

• Some questions ask you to click on a circle, in a box or a drop down list to select your answer(s)
• Other questions will require one answer, for others you can select multiple answers
• For some questions you need to click in the box and type in your answer
• A maximum of 2 files can be uploaded
• The survey should take about 15-20 minutes to complete

You do not have to complete the survey in one go. Throughout the survey there is the option to ‘save and continue’. If you choose ‘save and continue’ you will be asked to provide an email address – and then will be emailed a link. When you to go back to it, all you have to do is click on the link.

Data Protection and Confidentiality -  We comply with all legislation governing the protection of personal information, including the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The information you provide through this survey will be kept secure and analysed by Warrington Borough Council.

Your response together with your name will be available to view publicly when we report on the outcome of the scoping consultation. All other personal information, such as your street name and number and e-mail address will not be published. We may however be required to provide this information to the Planning Inspectorate to ensure that you can be contacted and take part in the examination if required.
