As part of the Council's approved Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP), a decision was taken by Senior Leadership Team on 22 September 2026 to cease the Council's traded school meals service as of the 31st August 2027.

Schools currently purchasing the Council's School Meals Service will therefore need to ensure that alternative catering arrangements are in place and fully operational from 1 September 2027. 

The Council is committed to working collaboratively with schools throughout the transition period to support planning and implementation and to help ensure a smooth transfer to alternative arrangements.

This survey seeks to understand schools' intended future delivery model, anticipated timescales for transition, and any support requirements arising from the cessation of the service. The information provided will help the Council plan transition activities, identify potential risks and barriers, to ensure that all schools are prepared to deliver a school meals service from 1 September 2027.
