1. Galston Local Office and Library

Galston Town Centre has recently undergone a multi million pound programme of regeneration. The next phase of the plan involves the former Town Hall and the vacant plot provided by demolition of the former Co-Op building. We have drawn up two distinct options for this redevelopment and we need to hear your views in our public consultation. Please take a look at our two images of the plans and tell us which option you prefer. Please also use the space below to add any comments

Question 1.

Please look at our Option 1 drawing and read these proposals:
  • build a retail unit and landscaped space on the corner site
  • make the contact centre more open
  • install an IT suite in the Library
  • Reduce Library space by half
  • no separate meeting space or office

Question 2.

Please look at our Option 2 drawing and read these proposals:
  • refurbish Local Office and move Library to first floor
  • extend the existing local office to include an open Contact Centre with separate interview/office space and IT suite
  • make the contact centre more open
  • large Library space (matching the existing size)
  • separate meeting space or office
  • no retail unit to be built. Instead the corner site will be  hard landscaped with trees, kept open enough to be used for public events
