Introduction
Bristol City Council is consulting on proposed changes to the allotments service. In developing these proposals, we have been helped greatly by ideas and feedback from the allotment community during a process of engagement over several months.
In this survey, we ask for your views on our proposals for the following:
- Section 1: Priorities for improvement of the Allotment Service
- Section 2: Rent
- Section 3: The Allotment Tenancy Agreement
- Section 4: Allotment rules
We'd like to hear your views, whether you currently have an allotment, are on the waiting list, or have an interest in allotments in Bristol.
If you completed the earlier survey on our emerging proposals in September, thank you, this has been very helpful in shaping our updated proposals. We have made several changes and would be grateful to hear your views on these updated proposals.
The survey includes more than 50 questions because we are interested in your views on many specific proposals. You can skip any questions you don’t wish to answer. You can also save your progress and come back to it at any time before the consultation closes. When you save your progress, you will be sent a link to return to the survey and continue where you left off.
We do not ask anything that would identify any individual.
Next steps
After reading your feedback and analysing all responses, we will develop final proposals on our four key areas: priorities for improvement, rents, tenancy agreement, and rules.
Final decisions on these proposals will be made by the council’s Public Health and Communities Policy Committee in March 2027. The committee will consider responses to the consultation when making their decisions.
We would advise existing tenants of any rent change in September 2027. This would come into effect immediately for new tenants and in September 2028 for existing tenants.
There would be transitional arrangements for implementing changes over reasonable timescales.
Community groups will be considered in a separate process. We expect this to be after the committee decision in March 2027.
