About the Event: 

The Orgreave Inquiry is an independent statutory inquiry established to aid public understanding of the events at Orgreave Coking Plant on 18 June 1984 and the subsequent prosecutions of those arrested on the day. 

This event is for people who were involved in, or affected by, the events at Orgreave on 18 June 1984. 

It is an opportunity for you to share your experiences with us in an informal environment, to learn more about the Inquiry’s work and to meet members of the Inquiry team. 

This event is not an evidence-gathering session. You will not be questioned or cross-examined, and you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. 

Anything you choose to share will provide valuable context and help the Inquiry understand how the events at Orgreave affected individuals and communities, both at the time and in the years since. 

After the event, an anonymised summary of the themes discussed will be provided to the Inquiry’s Chair and Panel. Individual contributions will not be attributed to participants, and information shared during the session will not be treated as formal witness evidence. Instead, this report will form part of the Inquiry’s online archive, providing a summary of the themes raised by attendees, and will inform the Inquiry’s final report.

Our aim is to ensure that people feel heard, and to help the Inquiry better understand the immediate and longer-term impact of events at Orgreave.
