Have Your Say on Housing Allocations in Castle Point

Castle Point Borough Council is planning to update its Housing Allocations Policy in 2026/27. Before we make any changes, we would like to hear your views.

The updated policy will better explain:

  • How we allocate social housing in the borough
  • How we make decisions fairly and transparently
  • Who is eligible for social housing, and who is not
  • How we prioritise applicants, especially as demand is high and homes are limited
  • How we comply with recent laws and best practices
  • How we make the best use of the social homes available.

Your feedback is important and will help shape the final policy.

How to Take Part:

Please complete this online survey – it's anonymous and should take between 10 and 15 minutes. We do not collect any personal information, and your feedback will remain confidential.

Each question includes a brief summary of the proposed change, followed by a question about whether you agree or disagree with the proposal. If you would like to read the full draft policy before taking part, you can access it here: CPBC - Housing Allocations Policy 2026 (draft).

At the end of the survey, you can choose to answer a few additional questions about your demographic information. This section is also anonymous and will only be used to help us complete an equality impact assessment as part of the consultation.

If you have a question about your own housing application, please email the Housing Options Team separately at housingadvice@castlepoint.gov.uk.

Consultation Dates:

  • Starts: 12 January 2026
  • Ends: 15 March 2026

After the consultation closes, we will review all feedback and use it to update the policy draft. The final version will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval in April 2026.
