After a successful first year of delivery, Protection Approaches is soon to launch the second year of the Hate crime - community outreach, response, and prevention programme supporting another ten community-based organisations in London to develop new, or to expand current programmes designed to prevent hate crime and to better support victims.
The majority of the places on this year’s programme will be offered to organisations who applied to our hugely oversubscribed first year. In addition, in response to heightened need and as part of our response to the appalling racist riots across the UK we have opened up two spaces on the project specifically to support organisations who work with refugees, asylum seekers and/or recent migrants.
This project will equip participating organisations with the tools and knowledge they need to effectively support victims of hate crime and develop new hate crime awareness initiatives. Over the course of 10 months, each organisation will receive:
- Four specialised trainings – Focused on understanding hate crime, providing initial victim support, building stakeholder relationships, and enhancing sustainability through fundraising strategies.
- Tailored support – We'll work closely with you to help develop new initiatives that raise awareness of hate crime and provide crucial support to victims in your community.
- Sustainability - We'll work with you to develop grant proposals and other fundraising strategies to ensure sustainability of new hate crime initiatives.
- Funding support – Organisations will receive £5,000 to help cover costs associated with participation in the project.
