What are Your Film Trailer Expectations?

In a film trailer, what do you think is the most important part in convincing you to see the film?

The main sub genre of horror for my trailer that I’ve selected is zombie horror. What are your expectations for a horror film of this type? Are there any features you particularly enjoy or dislike?

The overarching plot of my film trailer is based on what the world would be like if Coronavirus was passed through touch. Once you come into any sort of contact with another human, you instantly become infected, and transform into a zombie.

The ideas that I have for my individual segment include a semi-abandoned school corridor, showing only a limited number of people clearly weary of the situation at hand. Their body language shows worry, and agitation, and I’ll be following them through the corridor with the camera as if I’m walking with them - to make the audience feel as though they are experiencing the situation too. I’ll then cut to a sweeping pan of a pupil running in distress, and fast paced music will gradually increase in beat to match the viewer’s heart rate and increase tension. Choppy, fast paced editing with be used to make the disequilibrium in the plot known.

Can you forsee any problems with the above ideas, or think of anything to add?

My target audience is 14 and over. How well do you think I have catered for my target audience?

I intend to use voiceover/written text in my trailer in order to provide anchorage. What is your preference?

Now that you have listened to my proposal, and identified problematic areas, how do you suggest that I improve my part of the trailer?
