Youth inter faith dialogue and learning - Further Education Students' Unions

This short survey seeks information which can help increase FE students’ ability to engage in inter faith action and dialogue and aid them in developing their skills for this. We would very much value hearing from you about inter faith projects/initiatives in your college and some of the resources that you have found particularly helpful for supporting and promoting inter faith learning and action at your college.

Information you provide will be used to help create a new section of IFN’s website  which will include examples of:
  • the different types of inter faith initiatives that are being run in college settings – and resources for inter faith understanding and cooperation that are being used; and
  • new approaches to inter faith interaction in colleges in response to the mainly virtual world of interaction brought about by the pandemic.
Your information will also help the Inter Faith Network for the UK strengthen and develop its broader ongoing programme of work to support and encourage inter faith understanding and cooperation, including Inter Faith Week.

All questions are voluntary.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us: ifnet@interfaith.org.uk

Thank you, in advance, for your kind assistance

Your organisation

1. How important do you think good inter faith relations in college are?

2. Do you use the annual national Inter Faith Week in November (www.interfaithweek.org) and/ or other special Days/ Weeks to encourage student inter faith engagement?

3. Inter faith initiatives bring together students of different faiths and beliefs to enable them to: learn; tackle myths and prejudices; build positive relationships; and sometimes to carry out joint social action projects.

Are there any initiatives of this kind already taking place in your college?

4. Are you aware of any resources that are being used to help support student inter faith learning or action in your college?
These might include online resources, publications, videos or courses

If your SU is taking an active role in supporting inter faith engagement, have you found any resources particularly helpful?

5. Are there ways in which inter faith activity within your college has changed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the response measures?
If so, it would be helpful if you could tell us a little about that and about whether new ideas/ways of engaging are emerging that could be useful for others to consider. For example, are activities taking place online?

6. In terms of development of good inter faith relations in college, are there particular possibilities or challenges that you wish to highlight?
