The Scottish Government published national guidance for schools on the use of physical intervention in November 2024. The guidance outlines best practice on supporting children and young people, preventing and responding to distressed behaviour, when to physically intervene and where there is a risk of injury, when to consider the use of restraint and seclusion. The Scottish Government is undertaking a review of the effectiveness of the guidance 1 year into its implementation and would welcome your feedback to inform the review.
