1. Active bystander - volunteer facilitator application (Deadline 5pm on Friday 19th  July)

Would you like to learn from our experts how to deliver our active bystander training to others in your workplace or community group?

It can be difficult to know what to do when we encounter prejudice, harassment, or identity-based violence such as a racist attack in a supermarket or an inappropriate comment from a colleague or friend. Protection Approaches and besea.n have developed an innovative and proven training that helps everyone to understand what they can do to reduce harm whenever they encounter such situations.

We are recruiting volunteer facilitators who will be trained by our team and provided with all the resources they need to deliver these trainings in their workplaces and elsewhere.

This free programme is open to anybody but it may be particularly interesting to people working in Human Resources, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion or Safeguarding. It may also be of particular interest in you are in an active leadership role within a local community or faith group or a school or university.

Who is behind the programme?

This Programme is being run by Protection Approaches and besea.n. You will learn from our professional facilitators with decades of combined experience in delivering interactive training workshops and fighting  for social justice.

What will I have to do?

You will attend 3 online training sessions totalling around 10 hours of training including:

-the content of a 1-hour active bystander workshop
-facilitation skills
-dealing with difficult situations and questions

We expect participants to commit to organising and delivering a minimum of 3 sessions in your workplace, community group or other space.

When will the sessions take place?

2pm-5pm on Tuesday 23rd July, Tuesday 30th July and Tuesday 6th August

Then what?

Upon completion of the training we will share all of the resources necessary for you to deliver and evaluate your own Active Bystander training sessions and will follow up to keep track of how you are getting on and any support you may require as you organise your own sessions.

We will hold a follow-up session for your group in Autumn 2024, where facilitators to check in, share their experiences and discuss support needs. You'll also be invited to join our community of facilitators across the country and to participate in future networking and development activities.
