How to engage with Shetland's next Local Development Plan

1. Introduction

The purpose of this survey is to seek your input on how you would like to engage and receive information as we form Shetland's next Local Development Plan. Responses to this survey will be used to form the Participation Statement, which will detail how the Planning Service provide information and interact with all interested parties when forming the next Local Development Plan.

Local Development Plans set out how places will change into the future, including where development should and shouldn't happen. Development plans show where new homes and workplaces will be built, how services and facilities such as schools and transport services will be provided, and identify the places and buildings we value and want to protect. Local Development Plans bring together many different sectors and interests to achieve the desired change for places and communities.

Forming a Local Development Plan is a long and detailed process comprising several stages. During both Evidence Gathering and Plan Preparation stages we will engage and consult widely through consultation exercises. The Delivery stage follows the new Local Development Plan's adoption.
