Counterculture Partnership LLP ('Counterculture') has been appointed by St Helens Council to develop a 10 year arts strategy for the borough's residents and creative sector. The definition of 'culture' for this work includes collections, dance, libraries, literature, museums, music, theatre and visual art, produced and delivered through both amateur and professional organisations.
To inform this work we are consulting with the arts and creative sector in St Helens specifically to:
- Understand your ambitions for arts/culture in the borough
- Understand your needs
- Agree the current cultural assets and how they might best support the arts ecology to flourish
- Assess the appetite for culture to help support St Helens' wider objectives around economic, physical, education and health and wellbeing development and specifically as a borough that embraces culture and embeds creativity. If there are gaps, what are they and how might they best be overcome?
- Agree what the measure for success for a 10-year cultural strategy might look like
The main aim of the project is to secure evidence that will provide St Helens (and particularly the project Steering Group) with a better understanding of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, so that they can work together to co-create a vision, strategy and delivery plan which enables St Helens residents, artists and creative industries to flourish. To support this work, we are consulting with a range of sector stakeholders to obtain relevant information and opinion.
The questions below are aimed at the arts community from any arts discipline in St Helens and from all sectors e.g. amateur/voluntary sector groups, commercial sector and individual artists/creatives (whether emerging, semi-professional, professional, student or if you take part as a hobby)
This survey will remain open until the 13 April.
