SQA Generative AI Consultation Survey

1. Generative AI Consultation Survey

0%
The rapid rise and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has potential implications for the education sector. As an assessment body, SQA is closely monitoring and considering the impact AI may have on qualifications and assessment.

In 2022, SQA established an internal AI Working Group which includes representatives from across the organisation to conduct research and consultative work. The working group's short-term aim was to develop an initial position on AI that preserved the integrity of SQA's qualifications and assessments in a rapidly changing technological landscape. The survey is the next phase of our research and represents part of a wider consultation of practitioners in the Scottish education system with the aim of understanding how AI is being used in the sector already, the opportunities it brings and any concerns about its use.

The survey is divided into three sections to establish your:
  • familiarity or experience with AI tools
  • attitudes around its use by learners and practitioners
  • thoughts on the risks or opportunities associated with the software.

We do not ask for information that could identify you individually. Any information that could identify you (eg in free text responses) will be removed prior to analysis or reporting. All questions in the survey are optional and you are free to stop at any time. However, your survey responses will only be recorded once you reach the end of the survey and submit.

Results of the survey will be used to inform SQA’s position on the use of AI moving forward and to inform the next steps of the AI Working Group.

Survey data is stored and handled securely according to SQA’s data protection policy and will be processed and analysed by members of SQA’s Research and Evaluation team prior to inclusion in any report resulting from this work. Survey data will be destroyed once the project is complete. The survey has been developed and designed according to the ethical principles outlined in SQA’s Code of Research Practice

The survey should take 20-30 minutes to complete. If you have any questions about the survey prior to taking part, please contact researchandevaluation@sqa.org.uk.
