Havant Borough Council is in the early stages of designing a new coastal defence at Broadmarsh Coastal Park. The park sits on a historic coastal landfill site, where land was reclaimed from the sea in the 1960s through waste disposal. This landfill is currently contained by a chalk bund and protected by a blockwork revetment. The ageing structure is now reaching the end of its life and is currently managed through ongoing, ad hoc maintenance. A new defence is being considered to reduce the risk of structural failure and prevent landfill eroding into the harbour.

We are at the beginning of the design process and want to hear from residents and stakeholders to better understand how the area is used and what aspects of it are most valued. Your feedback will play an important role in shaping any future plans.

Please note that while this project is being explored, there is no guarantee that any construction works will go ahead.
