Background

Cheshire West and Chester Council and Archers Brook School is proposing to permanently expand the school.  Archers Brook SEMH Residential School, Chester Road, Great Sutton, Ellesmere Port, CH66 2NA, in order to fulfil the Council’s statutory duty to ensure a sufficiency of SEN School places in the local area.

The Proposal.

It is proposed to permanently increase the number of school places at Archers Brook School, Chester Road, Great Sutton, Ellesmere Port, CH66 2NA, to take effect from 01 September 2025.  The school has made such additional provision on a temporary basis since September 2024.

Why we are proposing to increase the number of school places at Archers Brook School.

The Governing Body of Archers Brook and The Council propose to permanently increase the number of school places to enable the increase in school places, established on a temporary basis in September 2024, to be made permanent.

Archers Brook is currently running a temporary increase of an additional 18 places within the existing school for Key Stage 3 (KS3) and KS4.  The 18 places consist of an additional two class bases for pupils who need SEMH provision alongside Autism provision.  The proposal will make the provision permanent and will fulfil a shortfall of SEMH and Autism provision in the locality.  If the proposal is made permanent, the school will increase the capacity from 85 places to 103 places.

We would like your comments on the Council's proposals for Archers Brook SEMH Residential School outlined in the consultation document. Please read this document before completing this survey.
