We want Arun to be a better place to live, work and visit. We are finding it harder to prevent families in particular from becoming homeless. Rough sleeping is rising and although only slowly, this is a concern for the health and wellbeing of some of our most vulnerable citizens. It is also becoming harder to find sustainable, long term housing solutions for people who are homeless, and evictions from private rented accommodation are now a major factor in causing homelessness, as is domestic abuse.

We have been working together with a specialist company Campbell Tickell Ltd on developing a new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy which will structure the work the council does going forward to alleviate homelessness locally.

We have engaged with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector partners and spoken to people who are homeless in Arun to develop this Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy. We have also looked at how our services are performing in terms of preventing and relieving homelessness and rough sleeping and where these could improve.

We want to understand your views on how homelessness and rough sleeping in Arun might best be tackled by the council and its local partners and we want to know whether the priorities we have set out in the strategy are the right ones.
