Big Social Care Survey 2020
We need your help
We know that things have been especially hard for those relying on care during Covid and we want to make sure the Government understands what it has been like. We hope your experience can help make care better for those that rely on it now and for those that may need it in the future. This Government has promised to reform social care to make it fit for the future so your views matter more than ever. It should only take about 15mins to complete our short questionnaire.
We are asking for the experiences of the those in England because we are an alliance that represents England.
What is social care?
Social care is help, care and support for people with a wide variety of needs due to disability, illness, caring responsibilities or other life situations.
It can include:
- Help with everyday tasks such as washing, dressing and eating
- Care at home, living in a care home, or living in sheltered accommodation
- Home adaptations, support for people of working age to get into or stay in employment
- Support for unpaid carers or family members
Filling in the survey
We've ask questions in the survey as if the person with care and support needs (including carers) is filling in the survey. For example we've ask 'How old are you?' But we know many people will fill this in on other people's behalf - please answer as if you are them. For those of you who care for someone, you can fill it in twice, if you'd like, to answer on behalf of the person you care for as well as for yourself. We know that the support carers need is very varied, some carers have few care needs themselves and some have high care needs because of the care they need to give. Also carers have their own health needs too. We're interested in all experiences of carers, so please do share and just skip or pick not relevant for questions that don't fit your needs.
How will your answers be used?
The Care & Support Alliance will use these results as part of our campaigning work. We represent over 70 of Britain’s leading charities campaigning for a properly funded care system alongside the millions of older people, disabled people and their carers who deserve decent care and support.
Thank you for taking part in this survey, which will ask you about your experience of receiving care during the pandemic, either on an on-going basis or care you have only needed since March.
The answers you provide will only be used by the Care and Support Alliance for the purposes of research and analysis. This, in turn, will help inform our campaigns and future work.
Responses will not be used in a way that identifies any individual or family publicly. Any data you submit – including personal information - will be kept safe and deleted after use. See
for further details.
