CDDFT Children's Interactive Feedback Tool

1. Digital Interactive Feedback System for Children and Young People in Healthcare

0%
The search is on for an industry partner to develop a prototype system to capture the voice and experiences of children and young people accessing healthcare services in County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

Children and young people’s views are not being captured effectively by current methods to gather feedback; a need has been identified to develop an interactive digital solution to enable more effective feedback and input from children and young people to help shape and improve services going forward.

Market research has been undertaken, and there is no current solution available that meets the needs of the Trust. The proposed solution will need to address existing limitations of what is currently available on the market and will incorporate the following criteria:
Fun and engaging to children and young people so they choose to interact with it and respond.
Inclusive of those with SEND e.g. hearing, vision, communication, motor impairments.
Adaptable to developmental stage and not just age.

Have the ability to vary the content of the questions asked or responses sought dependent on Trust requirements (including Family and Friends test), Children and Young Peoples priorities and/or those of the Care Group or individual service.
Suitable for outpatients, remote consultations, and inpatients.

Have functionality to collate responses automatically and with independence from other Trust IT systems whilst in prototype and development.

Have functionality to disaggregate responses according to service and department.

Incorporate a character/mascot within the design which could contribute to the identity and interactivity of the system. One character proposed which aligns with the ethos of ‘new growth’, ‘development’ and ‘Treetops’.

Be co-produced with children, young people and their families/carers. (Access to this cohort will be facilitated.)

Once a prototype has been developed, the prototype will be submitted for a clinical trial and product evaluation conducted. Following this evaluation, there may be an opportunity for this to become supported over a longer term to full product development and adoption into the NHS.

The successful applicant will have access to the lead clinician and access to the cohort of children and young people to co-develop the prototype, working with the AHSN team to develop a bespoke action plan for development.

Funding for project development to prototype stage will be funded via the County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust Charity. Ongoing funding for research evaluation and product development will be sourced by a variety of funding calls.

If you have any queries or would like an informal discussion about the opportunity, support, IP protection or processes, the AHSN project team would love to hear from you. Any clinical enquiries please direct to Dr Kirsty Yates.
