Our first priority is to ensure there is enough childcare in your area for you to have a choice of local provision that meets the needs of parents and carers in Bristol. We would do this through the following service aims:
- Increase early years and childcare provision in areas where provision is not at a level to meet parental needs, by supporting new providers to join the area, and supporting existing childcare providers to expand
- Focus on ensuring enough places are available to offer the free childcare hours (30 hours for children aged 9 months and over from September 2025)
- Focus on addressing priority areas where there are not enough places, and addressing ‘childcare deserts’ within Bristol
- Support new and existing providers in meeting all the legal and other obligations to provide childcare, such as Ofsted registration
