City Status for Greenock (2021)

1. Introduction

As part of the 2022 Platinum Jubilee, towns and cities have been invited to bid for city status.

Any local authority in any part of the United Kingdom, a Crown Dependency or an Overseas Territory is welcome to enter.
Currently there are seven cities across Scotland: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Stirling and Perth.

A successful city status bid for Greenock would make it Scotland’s eighth city.

Please let us know your views on whether you would back a bid for city status for Greenock as part of the Platinum Jubilee competition.
