Welcome to the consultation for the review of the Code of Ethics Fire Standard.

The Code of Ethics Fire Standard was published in May 2021 and was reviewed in early 2025. The review of this standard was completed by a group of practitioners from across Fire and Rescue Services within England, and supported by Rob MacDougall, Chief Fire Officer and NFCC People, Culture & Leadership Committee Chair, and Abigail Hopewell, Head of NFCC People, Culture and Leadership Hub.

This consultation seeks to gather views about the proposed amendments to the Fire Standard as well as the impact on those organisations who will be expected to align to it.

There is a save and continue function that can be used throughout the consultation so that you can return to your response later and pick up where you left off.  You can also review the question set in advance.

This consultation will close end of the day Monday 26 January 2026. If you have any questions, please contact the Fire Standards team. Many thanks for taking the time to respond, your feedback is appreciated.
