About this survey
In this consultation, we ask for your views on the proposals to improve the public space and road safety on Denmark Street, Denmark Avenue, Frogmore Street and Trenchard Street.
We also ask some questions about you as part of equality monitoring. All questions are optional and we do not ask anything that would identify any individual.
Once you have finished the survey, you will be automatically redirected to a web page where you have an option to sign up to receive email updates about other Bristol City Council consultations and engagement exercises.
Overview of the proposals
We are proposing the following changes to manage traffic and improve the public space around Denmark Street, Denmark Avenue, Trenchard Street and Frogmore Street. The proposals would improve safety and make the area more accessible for residents and the large numbers of people visiting entertainment venues in the area. Figure 1 shows an overview of the proposals.
- Closing a section of Denmark Street near St Augustine’s Parade either full-time or part-time. We ask about your preference later in the survey.
- Closing Denmark Avenue to motor vehicles. This would operate full-time.
- Raised crossing points at the same level as the pavement to help pedestrians cross roads at two locations:
- Denmark Street at the junction with St Augustine’s Parade (The Centre)
- Culver Street at the junction with Frogmore Street
- Tactile paving and dropped kerbs at junctions throughout the area
- Speed cushions on Frogmore Street and Trenchard Street to maintain safe speeds near the O2 Arena, Bristol Beacon and the Hatchet Inn
- Improving public space with a new tree, planters, seating, cycle parking and e-scooter parking
A new zebra crossing is planned on Trenchard Street near Bristol Beacon. This would be built as part of a different project, so we don’t ask you about the zebra crossing in this consultation.
