Protection Approaches is inviting 10 community-based organisations in London to co-design and deliver new anti-hate initiatives with funding, training, and ongoing support.
Successful Applicants will:
- Co-design and implement a hate crime prevention or victim support project funded with up to £5,000.
- Increase their knowledge and understanding of hate crime and develop the skills they need to support and advocate for victims.
- Build solid foundations for the sustained mobilisation of their communities.

What we are looking for:
Community-based organisations working in London that:
- Work with marginalised communities with acute or emerging needs around hate crime e.g., Black African, and Afro-Caribbean people, Disabled People, LGBTQI+ people, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Homeless and Unhoused People etc and;
- Can commit capacity to participate fully in a ten-month programme; assigning two named staff or volunteers to co-design and implement a project and participating in all scheduled workshops and meetings.
Previous experience or expertise working on hate crime is not a prerequisite to accessing this support
What successful applicants will get:
Over this 10-month programme each partner will receive:
- Funding: Up to £5,000 to fund a pilot project trialling a new approach to hate crime prevention, response, or victim support
- Hate crime project design lab: A workshop for your whole team supporting you to focus on what your community needs, identify your key goals, and lay out a roadmap to achieve them via your new initiative
- A choice of training modules: Partners will access trainings led by our expert team, from a selection, based on team capacity and development needs
- Flexible one-to-one support: regular check-ins from the Protection Approaches team to access the knowledge, relationships, and resources to embed your learning and implement your project
- Peer Support Network: All project partners will meet every six weeks to share updates, achievements, and challenges and participate in peer learning activities
