Engineering Your Future is a careers-focused event to help students in Years 12 and 13 to find out more about different careers available to them if they choose to progress with work or study in the field of engineering.  It will take place on Thursday 19 November (09:15-14:30) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (OX11 0QX).

It is co-hosted by Diamond Light Source, Oxfordshire’s very own synchrotron, and there will be an exclusive tour of Diamond during the day for all students and teachers. We are delighted to have scientists and engineers from our external partners at this event, who will be running a series of interactive workshops, and students will also have an opportunity to speak to people from other organizations that support maths, science and engineering over a networking careers fair. A sandwich lunch is provided for all participants.

There will also be a short careers talk (09:30-10:00), which can be joined online by all who apply - or you can choose to apply just to join this talk.

Registration of interest closes at midnight on Monday 29 June 2026.  As many of our events are oversubscribed, once registration of interest closes the first 40% of places will be allocated by ballot to applying state schools located in areas where the IMD (Index of Multiple Deprivation) is 1-4 - this is part of our Wonder Initiative.  The remaining places will be allocated to all remaining schools using a random number generator.  All schools will be contacted by midnight on Wednesday 1 July 2026.
