Penley Community Hospital Consultation

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is consulting on the future of health and wellbeing services in Penley and the surrounding area.

The inpatient beds at Penley Community Hospital have been closed since December 2024 because the previous model of care was no longer considered safe or sustainable. Challenges included difficulties recruiting staff, limited specialist support, low patient numbers and the need to provide care in ways that better meet people's needs today.

No decisions have been made. We want to understand what matters most to local people before any decision is taken.

The consultation asks for your views on three possible options:

  • Option 1: An NHS-led Health and Wellbeing Hub based at the Penley site.
  • Option 2: A Health and Wellbeing Hub at the Penley site led by community and voluntary organisations, working alongside NHS services.
  • Option 3: Delivering services directly in people's homes and communities rather than from a dedicated building.

There is no preferred option. We want to hear which option you support, what you think the benefits and challenges are, whether elements of different options could be combined, and any other ideas you would like us to consider.

Your feedback will help inform the Health Board's future decision. Thank you for your time.
