What is Community Energy?
Community energy means different things to different people.
But, common to most projects is that:
a) they are rooted in a particular geographical place;
b) they respond to a local energy related need or opportunity;
c) they facilitate local participation;
d) they have a positive local impact; and
e) they help to tackle the climate emergency and improve the way the energy system works for people.
Purpose of this consultation
The Centre for Sustainable Energy is conducting this consultation on behalf of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Local Authorities. They are keen to understand how they can better support the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector in the North East to tackle climate change and build more resilient communities through their combined support for community energy. Specifically, they have asked us to find out: What kind of support would enable the successful development and delivery of community energy projects in the North East?
Through this consultation we would like to find out about the types of community energy projects that you are interested in and about the types of support you need to make them happen in the North East. This survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, depending on the detail of your answers.
