Experiences of home based healthcare.
We'd love to hear your feedback about receiving health care in the home.
Healthwatch Surrey champions the voice of local people to shape, improve and get the best from NHS, health and social care services. We are independent and have statutory powers to make sure decision makers listen to the experiences of local people.
We are interested in hearing about health services provided to people who are housebound and cannot leave their home and whether needs are being met, and what improvements can be made to better meet these needs. If there is another service you would like to tell us about, we would be interested to hear from you.
There is not an agreed definition of what being housebound means. Many providers define housebound as being unable to leave the house without significant support. For the purpose of this project we are concentrating on health services being provided in the home and these are referred to as community health services.
We would like to hear about people's experiences of:
- District nursing
- Community occupational therapy
- Community physiotherapy
- Community speech and language therapy
- Community podiatry
- Pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation
- Falls prevention services
- Intermediate care services
- Specialist nurse (for example, diabetes, COPD, heart failure, incontinence, tissue viability)
- Community end of life and palliative care
- Urgent Community Response including 2 hour rapid crisis response services.
We want to learn:
- How people experience registering as housebound with their GP
- How people who are housebound experience getting the care they need
- What barriers to getting care do people who are housebound experience.
We welcome all feedback from people who would like to share their experiences with us.
