The innovation team at Macmillan test and develop innovative ideas and approaches to find better ways of helping people living with cancer. We challenge the traditional ways of working and make sure the services we provide make the biggest difference to people living with cancer, and that might mean finding new and different ways to do that.
Our vision is that Macmillan innovates for people living with cancer, with people living with cancer. We want to ensure the voices of people living with and affected by cancer are heard and actively shape our innovation partnerships and services.
To do that, we'd like to work with people with a lived experience of cancer, including family and friends, to help us identify and develop new initiatives to support and improve outcomes for people living with cancer - we will call this our Innovation Community.
If you have personal experience of cancer and an interest in innovation, this is great opportunity to bring your knowledge and skills to our work. This opportunity might particularly suit people with experience of working in innovation, but this is not a requirement and we will provide support and learning and development.
By bringing your personal experience of cancer, and other relevant skills and experience, we can work together to make a real difference. We will listen to you, hear what’s most important to you and use your insights and experience to identify, develop, and implement new initiatives for people living with cancer.
How can you be involved?
You will be provided with the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of involvement activities (some opportunities may be one-off activities and others may involve longer-term involvement), including, but not limited to taking part in surveys and focus groups, co-designing information, sitting on interview panels, testing new innovative products, being part of a regular advisory group. Most activities will be carried out online. This is a flexible engagement opportunity, meaning that the activities you choose to get involved in and the amount of time you give is completely up to you.
What can you expect from being part of the Macmillan's Innovation Community?
We will be in touch directly via email with information and engagement opportunities, with occasional follow ups via texts or phone calls. You will also be offered a welcome call and induction to help understand your skills and interest so that we can better tailor engagement opportunities to you and support you in your role.
Once you have completed this form, one our team will be in touch with you to discuss your application and the role in more detail. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
