Investigating deaths occurring during compulsory care and treatment under mental health legislation in Scotland
The aim of this public consultation is to seek views on proposals put forward by the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland (the Commission) for a new system of investigating the deaths of people who, at the time of their death, were subject to compulsory treatment under mental health legislation in Scotland. Please refer to Section 1 of the consultation document for further information about the background to this consultation.

The consultation contains 11 questions (plus sub-questions) which invite comment – including concerns and suggestions for improvement – on different aspects of the proposals.
The consultation will run from 7 December 2021 to 15 February 2022.
The consultation is being carried out by Griesbach & Associates (Dawn Griesbach and Jennifer Waterton) on behalf of the Commission.
