What is this research, and why is it needed?
This research is being undertaken as part of a major new project to develop and deliver a new UK-wide hate crime and hate incident support and reporting service for all people in the UK who identify as East and Southeast Asian, including recently arrived Hong Kong BN(O) status holders.

The project aims to create an independently branded, community trusted, accessible, and well used service including a 24/7 helpline and website, which will break down barriers to reporting. It will ensure that victims/survivors of hate from all East and Southeast Asian communities have access to the ongoing support that they need.

The answers you give in this questionnaire will help shape the design of this new service.

Who is delivering the project?
There are 14 organisations in the Consortium delivering this project. These organisations were chosen because they are national and regional community based groups, with expertise in hate crime/incident reporting and prevention and supporting East and Southeast Asian victims/survivors of racial violence.

Who is funding this project?
The Consortium has been granted the Third Party Hate Crime Reporting Service Fund from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. This research is being led by End Violence and Racism Against East and Southeast Asian Communities (EVR) who are part of a wider consortium of 14 organisations delivering this project.

Why am I being asked to fill in a questionnaire/ attend a workshop or focus group?
We want this service to be shaped by East and Southeast Asian communities and for East and Southeast Asian communities. Whether you're participating as an individual or on behalf of an organisation or group, we welcome your feedback.

What will the questionnaire be like? 
The Questionnaire consists of 26 questions, with some multiple choice and some text answers. We estimate it will take anywhere between 10-20 minutes to answer.

Do I have to take part?
You don’t have to take part if you don’t want to. If you do take part, you can stop at any time and choose not to press submit. Alternatively, skip to the end to submit a partially completed form, once you are past the mandatory questions in Section 1.

What will we do with the information you give us?
The Questionnaire is anonymous, and we cannot identify you through the answers you give. The answers will be used to develop a report that will inform the service design. Your anonymised answers may be seen by any of the consortium members.

What next? 
To receive updates on the progress and development of the service, due to launch in late Spring 2022, you will have the opportunity to join a mailing list here. Any contact information you supply will not be linked to the answers you submit here.
