Lettings Review Engagement Survey
Bristol’s lettings scheme sets out how people apply for a home, what type of home is offered and who can apply for social housing. The lettings scheme is commonly known as Home Choice Bristol. Home Choice Bristol allows people to bid on available properties providing a degree of choice in location and type of property. Social housing is a term used for property that is let by the council and housing associations.
The housing situation in Bristol presents many more challenges than when the existing scheme was introduced. We now need to decide if it still works for Bristol and its citizens and we would like to hear your views.
We need to make the best use of the limited housing we have and the application process needs to be quick and simple to understand. At the same time we need to encourage people to thrive by creating communities that are mixed and balanced.
The review will consider who is housed where and will change the way housing is prioritised and let. We will then be able to create a scheme that better meets the needs of Bristol’s residents.
To help us achieve this we are talking to people affected by the scheme including people who are registered for social housing and the wider community. We will also be working with social landlords, the voluntary sector and various community groups. You can let us know your views by taking part in this short survey.
When the review is complete we will develop different options for changing the scheme. These options will be consulted on in 2020.
