Overview:
This form is used by UAL Approved Centres to apply for Special Consideration on behalf of a learner who has been affected by unanticipated illness, injury, or other adverse circumstances at the time of assessment, impacting their ability to demonstrate their usual level of performance.
Centres are expected to implement reasonable adjustments where possible during the assessment period to support the learner before applying for Special Consideration.
Eligibility:
For an application to be considered, the learner must:
- Have completed the assessment, or
- Have completed at least 25% of the Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and produced sufficient evidence for assessment
Learners who have not met the 25% threshold must be:
- Withdrawn, or
- Entered for the next available assessment opportunity
Types of Special Consideration:
Centres must indicate whether the learner was:
- Present but disadvantaged, or
- Absent and unable to complete
Assessment and Evidence Requirements:
- For Unit 1, evidence must be authenticated and submitted as instructed by UAL Awarding Body
- For Unit 2 and EPQ, centres must assess and submit work through the standard moderation process
- Centres must retain all supporting evidence and provide this if requested
Outcome:
If approved, UAL Awarding Body may apply a small mark adjustment to ensure the learner is not disadvantaged. This adjustment is based on the nature, timing, and severity of the circumstances and may not result in a grade change.
Aegrotat Award:
Applications for an Aegrotat Award follow a separate process. Please refer to the Special Consideration Policy for further guidance.
Deadline:
Applications must be submitted:
- Within 5 working days of the assessment deadline
Late applications may not be accepted and could delay results.
