Bristol City Council is proposing to turn a section of Oakhill Drive, from the junction with Marksbury Road up to the school car park gates (marked in green), into a permanent walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting-only zone. This would mean the road is permanently closed to all vehicles except emergency services.

Please note, the proposed closure would be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Additionally, the section between the school car park gates and the junction with Timsbury Road (marked in orange) would be closed to non-essential vehicles at school drop off and pick up times.

Bollards would be installed at Oakhill Drive’s junction with Marksbury Road and another bollard before the school car park gates (marked in green).

We would also introduce a timed closure on Oakhill Drive from the bollard up to the junction with Timsbury Road (marked in orange) that would only be accessible to school staff when closed. No other vehicles would be permitted to enter this section of Oakhill Drive from 8.20am to 8.45am and from 3.10pm and 3.40pm.

Emergency service vehicles would continue to have access to the full closure zone.

The proposed scheme would help to tackle congestion, unsafe parking, air pollution outside the school gates, and make it safer and easier to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot to school.
