Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. The data collected will be used to assess need across Norfolk and support LD care providers with implementing Positive Behavioural Support across their settings.

Background

Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is a framework to improve the quality of life of a person. This often has the effect of reducing behaviours that challenge. Evidence suggests that this also increases staff confidence, satisfaction and retention within settings.

Importantly, PBS is within the Core Capabilities Framework for Supporting People with Learning Disabilities (2019). Skills for Care have proposed that the Health and Social Care Act (2014) will be amended in 2021, making this framework mandatory for all health and social care staff. Therefore, training in PBS will also become mandatory for those working directly with people who have a learning disability.

Why are we collecting this information?

This information will also be used as a baseline to measure the effects of PBS across settings over time. Any data shared will be anonymised in reports. The information will not be shared with outside partners, and will only be used to identify need and measure impact. The overall aim of this project, including this survey, is to work in partnership with LD care providers to improve the quality of life of residents and staff and to implement best practice across Norfolk.

What do we need?

This survey needs to be completed in full for your specific setting. If you manage multiple settings, please complete this survey for each individual setting. This will support us in giving the right levels of training to the right settings. If this survey is not completed in full, we will not be able to offer training to that setting.

Please attach your current safeguarding policy, restrictive practice policy or equivalent and an anonymised example of a behaviour support plan or equivalent from your setting (not from an outside agency) to lee.baker@norfolk.gov.uk once you have completed this survey.
