Redditch Borough Council is seeking your views on the effectiveness of the current Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Redditch Town Centre which expires in January 2027. The Council can use its authority to extend the order for a further three years to continue to provide the police and other authorised officers with extra powers to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and other offensive and nuisance activities taking place in the area.
The current PSPO is designed to stop the following problems:
- Alcohol-related Anti-Social Behaviour in open spaces
- Possession and use of Psychoactive Substances e.g. Nitrous Oxide
- Public Urination, Defecation and other Offensive, Indecent or Threatening Behaviour
- Abusive, Obscene and Threatening Language
The PSPO covers a specified area, across the Town Centre, as shown within the red line, on the map below.
If the PSPO is extended the Council will continue to work with the police to make sure people are aware of the area covered by the Order and make it clear what behaviour and activities are restricted. Anyone who refuses to stop these behaviours and activities within the boundary of the PSPO could be fined, excluded for a fixed period of time or arrested.
We would like to hear your thoughts on the effectiveness of the current Order and your experiences of ASB in the Town Centre.
The survey will close at midnight on Sunday 11 October 2026.
Following the consultation period, the Council will consider all comments received and determine whether to formally extend the PSPO. If extended the Redditch Town Centre PSPO will be in place for a further three years.

This survey is being conducted by Redditch Borough Council to help us understand what businesses, residents and visitors think about a having Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in Redditch Town Centre.
We are not seeking to collect personal information through this survey. Please do not include information that identifies yourself or any other individual in any free-text responses.
Responses will be used to inform the Council's review of the PSPO and will be reported in an aggregated and anonymised format.
Survey data will be retained for six years, in accordance with the Council's retention schedule and will only be accessible to authorised officers.
