We are working in partnership with the Reading Agency to deliver the Reading Friends programme in Leeds.  Reading Friends is a volunteer delivered service that connects the most lonely and isolated people in the City, through reading and other shared interests.  If you have someone who can collect books from the Library on your behalf, our helpful staff will be able to assist them in choosing the right books for you.  You could also access free audio books through  BorrowBox

All of our volunteers receive full training and complete a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check before they visit any of our participants. Your volunteer will be able to deliver your books and spend time talking to you about books, reading and other shared interests. You will be matched to a volunteer who would visit you within your own home, usually every two weeks.

The information you provide on this application form will only be used in order to administer your Reading Friends application and to provide you with service information relevant to the programme. Your details will be held in accordance with UK data protection legislation and will not be shared with any third parties other than the volunteer(s) you are matched with (please also note that the volunteer(s) will be provided with access to your existing library account including your borrowing history).  Leeds City Council is the Data Controller of the information you provide and it is held only through your consent. Any personal data associated with Reading Friends will be securely destroyed should you choose to leave the programme (excepting in situations where the Council is required by law to maintain it).
